Collection: Hand Dyed Yarn

Absolutely. I'm a big believer in using the yarn and tools we love right from the get-go. My yarns are incredibly soft and lovely to work with and they colour shift softly as you knit. For beginners I recommend starting with a heavier weight, such as 8ply/DK or 10ply/worsted just because your projects will work up more quickly. 

I currently offer the following yarn weights, 4ply (fingering), 5ply (sport), 8ply (DK) and 10ply (worsted). 

My yarns are hand-dyed in small batches and usually sell out very quickly. If you would like access to my next round of offerings I encourage you to get on my mailing list so that you get notified of the next yarn drop. 

With a little extra care hand-dyed yarn and knitted garments will last beautifully. It can be lovely to place your hand-dyed yarn where you can see and admire it, but for long term storage it's best kept in a closed container in case moths come visiting.

Please hand wash your knitted garments in cool water using a gentle wool wash. Avoid agitating or wringing them. I like to place my wet garments on a dry towel and gently roll the towel to remove excess water. Then lay the garment flat to dry in the shade.

The number of skeins depends on your project, the size  and the stitch pattern you choose. To make it easier, here’s a rough guide:

4ply/Sock/Fingering hand-dyed yarn:

Fingerless mitts: 1 skein
Socks: 1 skein
Cowl or scarf: 1-2 skeins
Shawl: 1-2 skeins
Baby jumper: 2 skeins
Adult jumper or cardigan: 3-5 skeins

8ply/DK hand-dyed yarn:

Fingerless mitts: 1 skein
Cowl: 1 skein
Scarf: 2 skeins
Socks: 1-2 skeins
Shawl: 2-3 skeins
Baby jumper: 2-3 skeins
Adult jumper or cardigan: 4-6 skeins
